Mexico: Elementary School English Teacher
Opportunity
English is a building block for the bilingual school, so a teacher is needed to help the children learn to speak, read, and write in English.
Qualifications
- Experience with teaching children ages 5–13.
- Preferably a teaching certificate or training in education.
- The ability to be flexible and willing to learn a new culture.
- A minimum amount of Spanish would be helpful.

We would supply a mentor and personnel to help with adjustments to the field.
Language Requirements
Must be fluent in English. Preferably basics in Spanish.
Length of Service
- Mid-term: 1–12 months
- Long-term: 2 or more years
Ministry Description
As a teacher, you would be at the school from 7–3, Monday through Friday. We would also want you to contribute to school activities as they arise. You would be supervised at first in the classroom and given ideas on how to encourage the students. If you are an experienced teacher, you would be asked for your ideas, as well. You would be responsible for grading the students and using the curriculum provided. You would be expected to attend the Sunday services at a local church.
As a field, we meet weekly to share prayer requests and would expect your presence at the scheduled time. We check in with each other daily, and if there is anything important, we are in constant communication.

- Irapuato is the strawberry capital of Mexico; with a mild climate year-round, it is known for its agriculture. It is located in the center of the country.
- The Casa del Alfarero church started the first ever bilingual evangelical school in Irapuato in August of 2021 and is reaching out to people in their community through this ministry. There is a new school building being built, as the current church property is maxed out.
