Tenwek Inpatient Hospice Project
Within the country of Kenya, with a population of 50 million people, there are only a handful of inpatient hospice facilities which provide skilled care to dying patients and their overwhelmed families. Our research found that due to strong cultural influences, the terminally ill of Bomet County, where Tenwek Hospital is located, prefer to spend their final days in such a facility rather than at home, having their pain managed and their physical and spiritual needs met. This God-sized dream begins with the purchase of land adjacent to Tenwek Hospital on which to build a twelve-bed setting to welcome and care for patients in their final days.
