According to UNICEF, 15% of the world's population have some form of disability, whether present at birth or acquired later in life. Nearly 240 million of them are children.

In Kenya, a disability is considered a physical, sensory, mental, or other impairment, including any visual, hearing, learning, or physical limitations that impact adversely on social, economic, or environmental participation (Persons with Disability Act of 2003, Act 14).

The AGC Baby Centre has continued to witness children with various forms of special needs. The number has increased over time as children have continued to grow in age. Their needs are multidimensional and complex, necessitating a special program to meet their growing needs. The AGC Baby Centre has put in place measures and interventions geared towards assisting the children to gain as much independence as possible. In order to fully implement these strategies, there is a need to establish an independent special needs program.

The AGC Baby Centre is a Charitable Children's Institution (CCI). CCIs are required to have an exit strategy for every child who is rescued. Our strategy is to exit children through adoption, foster care, or reunification with family members. Until now, this has not been a possibility for our children with special needs, and now we must consider their long-term care. We are now wanting to build a home to meet this need, where the children can be in a loving home of their own whilst awaiting any future possibility of foster, guardianship, reunification with family or adoption.

We still need to raise $54,000 in order to be able to construct the home, build a security wall, and to purchase a generator. Would you consider partnering with us as we care for these precious children?

AGC Baby Centre's belief on the dignity and place of children with special needs as seen from God's perspective:

"Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and oppressed" (Psalm 82:3 NIV)

"Then he said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest’ (Luke 9:48).

"Children are a heritage from the Lord" (Psalm 127:3).
