I have wanted to be a teacher all my life. I grew up in a Christian home where we prayed for and supported missionaries. We said prayers at each meal and always mentioned a missionary by name. At bedtime, I remember praying at my bedside for my family and for each missionary my parents supported.

After I graduated from Tabor College with a degree in Elementary Education, I joined the missionary staff with World Impact in Los Angeles due to the inspiration from one of the missionaries I grew up praying for. I taught 2nd grade for six years at Los Angeles Christian School. Then, the Lord led me back to my family in Kansas where I waited on the Lord for my next step.

When I learned from another missionary, who I grew up praying for, about the need for teachers in Santa Cruz, Bolivia with World Gospel Mission, I jumped at the chance. I have always had this childhood dream to teach missionaries’ kids overseas ever since I heard a missionary share about this need in my church growing up. In the fall of 2007, I moved to Bolivia where I became the 2nd grade teacher at the Santa Cruz Christian Learning Center.

Again, the Lord led me away from that ministry after 8 years. In the Fall of 2016, He brought me to Taylor Christian School in McAllen, Texas on the Texas/Mexico border. I taught 2nd grade there the first year. Then, I finally graduated! For the next two years (2017-2019), I taught the combined 3rd and 4th grade class. I have been blessed beyond measure with these incredible kids.

In 2020, I will start a new chapter on the journey God has laid before me. I have been given the incredible opportunity to be the principal of Taylor Christian School. Not only has this position given me the opportunity to interact with the whole student body, but I can pour into the lives of our teachers as many have poured into my life.
