Leland Crist began writing a new chapter of his life story when he retired from WGM on August 30, 2022.

Growing up in Marion, Indiana, Lee was called into ministry when he was fourteen years old during a combined missions conference and revival. After high school he studied at Marion College (Indiana Wesleyan University), graduating in 1976.

Before joining WGM, Lee pastored for fifteen years and used his gifts in finance to serve various Christian ministries, and owned and operated an employee benefits company.

His service with WGM began by volunteering with Men With Vision and eventually led to his employment. His first position was managing Oaks Village in Avon Park, Florida, which was a place for retiring missionaries to live. Once Oaks Village was sold, Lee pastored a church in Florida until he was rehired by WGM to be the Director of Estate and Planned Giving in the Advancement department.

Lee has always enjoyed family time, but in retirement he plans to make that a top priority. He will also continue work on a few writing projects: a devotional on Ezekiel, a camp meeting president’s “how-to” book, and a study of the enlightenment’s effect on John Wesley’s Doctrine of Christian Perfection.

Lee’s life verse will continue to serve him well even in his retirement years: "Teach me your way, O Lord; that I may walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear your name” (Psalm 86:11 ESV).
