The Hispanic population in the United States is diverse and ever changing, and by the middle of the 21st century, one out of every four people in the States will be Hispanic. Outreach to Hispanics in the U.S. focuses on leadership training, with the goal of starting Hispanic churches.

Hispanic Ministries USA has partnered with Honduran Holiness Church and Comunidad Evangelica de Santidad (Evangelical Holiness Fellowship) since 2007. Together, they have worked to evangelize Hispanic communities in the U.S., areas that are often less churched than their home countries.

Since many Hispanics in the U.S. are transient, especially in rural areas, making a lasting impact can be hard. Those who’ve come to the U.S. from other countries find it difficult to fit into the culture. Additionally, the illegal immigration issue casts a shadow even on those who are in the States legally.

Hispanic Ministries USA’s goal is to train pastors to fill the need for Hispanic churches in the U.S. Even if those who receive Bible training move or return to their home countries, they will be able to use their spiritual foundation, training, and leadership skills to plant churches and lead others into the kingdom.

“There are more opportunities for church plants than there are pastors to fill them,” explained Brian Kushman, missionary to Hispanics in the U.S. “Our goal is to prepare church leaders to meet this need.”

New church leaders are trained in Bible and theology through an online teaching program where students can see lecture notes, video chat with Brian, and ask questions. Hispanic Ministries USA graduated its first class in June 2014.

Other focuses of Hispanic Ministries USA include community outreach, Bible studies, and English language teaching. These ministries help root Hispanics in a community and can help them better connect with American neighbors.

“God’s provision has been evident in every aspect of ministry—providing laborers, finances, and logistics,” Brian noted. “Most importantly, lives are being changed.”

PRAY: Pray for the growth and outreach of new churches and also for the areas that still need leaders and community development.
