Prayer Lifeline: May 2022

Prayer Lifeline: May 2022

Current events around the globe weigh heavy on our hearts, and we know they weigh on yours, as well. Thank you for partnering with us to bring these circumstances—and the people they affect—to the Lord who sees them and cares.

Pray for Ukraine

The unrest in Ukraine is leading many to flee to the western region of the country. Concerning the church leaders WGM has worked with: one has left the area safely with his family, one has not been heard from in a while, one is living outside of town with various family members, and one remains at Home of Hope.

Although news from our friends comes intermittently, what a relief to know that God is with them continually. We pray the people of Ukraine may come to grasp these words found in Psalm 73:25–26 in a personal way: “Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever” (NLT).

Hope for Yemen

Yemenis around the country are increasingly in need of hope for this life and the next. At the end of March, 17.4 million people in Yemen were reported to be experiencing acute food insecurity, and that number is expected to reach 19 million by the end of the year.

Within just three months, 161,000 people are projected to face the catastrophic Phase 5 of the Integrated Phase Classification, in which “starvation, death, destitution and extremely critical acute malnutrition levels are evident.”

Approximately 2.2 million children under five years of age and 1.3 million pregnant and nursing women are likely to experience wasting—the deadliest form of malnutrition.¹

Meanwhile, Yemen Response Team partners are facing budget deficits, too, and vulnerable Yemeni church members may soon lose essential aid.

Efforts are still ongoing, but your prayers are needed. Pray that God will provide the resources for the Yemen Response Team to continue reaching people. And lift up the entire country of Yemen as so many are being affected by the ongoing crisis. Ask God to shine through His people to bring hope and much-needed relief to both physical and spiritual needs.

You can help those affected by the crisis in Yemen by giving to the Yemen Crisis Fund.
