Rachel Simonds

My name is Rachel. I am 28 years old and from Farmington, Maine. My passion for serving and sharing the love of God began while I was working at Camp FairHaven, a Christian summer camp. I had the opportunity to minister to teenage girls. I was amazed at how God was able to use my past to counsel these young girls. I experienced a great excitement and peace partnering with God to carry out His work.

My desire to be a part of cross cultural missions began after attending Urbana 2018, a mission conference for college students. This desire for mission work continued to grow after reading the accounts of many missionary heroes. 

My first international trip was to Israel, in the Fall of 2020. I attended The Convocation of All Nations. It was incredible to be able to worship and pray with believers from all over the world. This past summer, I served with Heart of Africa on a short-term mission trip to Kyenjojo, Uganda. I volunteered for a month with Missionary Hazel Seavy, who ministers and provides training to widow’s. During my trip, I learned and gained so much from the generous hearts of the widows. I grew a deep love for the Ugandan people and their culture.

I am very excited to be serving as a mid-term volunteer with Heritage International School in Kampala, Uganda. I look forward to discerning God's calling on my life and being a part of His work in Uganda.
