Shelley Chapman
The need for effective and unifying Christian leadership has never been greater around the world. Poverty, economic disparity, conflict, theological confusion, and innumerable other challenges shape the spiritual and material well-being of individual people and, indeed, the interdependent fabric of all societies. The implications are global, and the need and opportunity are especially compelling throughout the continent of Africa. My passion lies with helping universities and seminaries throughout the continent to engage in the type of leadership development programs that integrate Christian spiritual transformation with the knowledge and practical skills required of leaders capable of addressing the challenging pace and complexity of the modern African context.
At the age of 18, I became a follower of Jesus Christ. After college, I embarked on a journey that has given me over 25 years of experience in higher education as a teacher and an administrator. I am grateful to have a part in providing educational experiences that transform and empower Africans to enter into every sector of society as truly transformed, Spirit-led leaders who know how to engage in the hard work of leadership in the face of huge, adaptive challenges.
I serve as a consultant for leadership development and higher education throughout Africa. My roles include teaching leadership studies and education courses in universities and seminaries and supervising the WGM Leadership Development for Africa Scholarship Program.
