Jesus and Kristen Vega

Our roots go deep in Peru. We both grew up there—Jesus in Lima and Kristen as a missionary kid up in the mountains. We each came to faith in Christ at an early age, and our lives were changed forever. God has blessed us with five beautiful children who have all grown up playing soccer, our favorite family activity. Soccer is also the national sport and pastime of Peru. In any neighborhood or mountain village around Cusco, someone can always be found kicking around a soccer ball. We have seen how relationships formed on the soccer field can be a gateway for sharing our faith.

God has given us a heart for the people of Peru, many of whom are still captive to the fears and ancient beliefs of their Inca ancestors. We are excited to use soccer as a bridge for bringing the light of the Gospel into their dark world and setting them free. God has put his love in our hearts and given us a passion for sharing His message of love with others. In many ways, it feels that God has been preparing and equipping us for this ministry all of our lives.
