Sighs of a Little Nun

A little taste of Kenya from World Gospel Mission’s International Cookbook

These cookies offer your sweet tooth a little something with basic pantry items. Remember to allow time to refrigerate the dough. In the WGM test kitchen, we rolled the cookies in powdered sugar, but frosting the cookies would also be very good. Happy eatings!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup flour

Instructions

Sighs of a Little Nun: mix ingredients and refrigerate

Cream the butter and powdered sugar.

Then add cornstarch and flour.

Mix well, then form a large ball and place in the refrigerator for one hour. We wrapped ours in plastic wrap while it hung out in the fridge.

Sighs of a Little Nun: form the dough into little balls and bake

Form the dough into little balls and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until light brown.

Sighs of a Little Nun: roll in powdered sugar
Sighs of a Little Nun: roll in powdered sugar

Roll them in powdered sugar before they cool, like we did, or wait and let them cool completely and then frost them.

RECIPE: Sighs of a Little Nun

They are similar to Mexican Wedding Cake cookies. Yum!
