Taylor Christian School
Taylor Christian School in McAllen, Texas, is preparing children today to impact their world tomorrow. The school offers an individualized education with a Christ-centered foundation and seeks to train children and youth to know and serve the Lord with all their heart, mind, and strength.
World Gospel Mission opened a kindergarten for the children of migrant workers in the fall of 1948. TCS expanded into an elementary school and was dedicated in January 1949. It was named Taylor Institute in honor of pioneer WGM missionaries Rev. and Mrs. Woodford Taylor. The school started with 21 students and reached 75 in the first year. In 1960, Taylor reached its highest enrollment of 130 students.
TCS also offers weekly chapel services; a Spiritual Emphasis Week each semester; music classes in which the students learn to use rhythmic instruments, read notes, play keyboards, and sing; physical education and sports programs including kickball, flag football, soccer, and basketball; and before- and after-school care.
“The best thing about working at Taylor Christian School is watching God move and work in the lives of the students and the staff,” shared WGM missionary Laura Vaca, who serves as the director of the school. “God has done amazing things.”
Taylor is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.
