Colby: My mother said God told her when I was four years old, I would be in the ministry. While the path I chose was much longer, more colorful, and certainly bumpier than God’s, in the end He called me back home. Shortly after I gave my heart to Christ in college, God called me to urban ministry. For a kid from a four-way stop town, this was not quite what I envisioned for my life. Still, I am ever humbled how God knows best, and after twenty years serving in the urban center of Indianapolis, God has called once more. As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I am committed to building relationships and living out the Gospel wherever God places me. I have a passion to be obedient to God's call no matter the where, the when, or the how. I am also excited to serve with my wife and my kids and to see how God uses all of us for the glory of His kingdom

Kim: When I sat beside my mother as she prayed with me to ask Jesus to be my Savior, my little 8-year old heart knew that I was saying my first “YES!” to Him and would follow Him the rest of my life. What I did not know, however, is that God would call me into full-time urban ministry after college. What did this rural girl from southern Indiana know about city life? It turns out that I didn’t have to know a whole lot because when God calls, He equips! It did not take long for me to jump right in. As a lover of people, I wanted to build lasting relationships with my neighbors: those with whom I have been humbled to know and live life with, day by day and year by year. Over the twenty years we have served in inner-city Indianapolis, I have been blessed to teach, equip, and train children to follow after God. As a wife and mother, it has been my privilege to walk alongside my family in our ministry together. We have never regretted that “YES!”

So, when our family had the opportunity to take a mission trip to Bolivia, we jumped at the chance. Missions has always been close to our hearts, and Colby and I desired to share that joy with our children! Little did we know that when we said “YES!” this time, we were only seeing a piece of God’s puzzle that He had already been putting together! While we were ministering there, we strongly felt that God was calling us to Bolivia to serve as career missionaries, and this time we did not hesitate to say “YES!” However, through situations and circumstances, we discovered that God was shifting that call. We are excited that God is leading us to join with His workers on the Texas/Mexico border. We know as we continue to say “YES!” to whatever ministries God has for our family, He will equip us yet again as we share the Gospel and grow disciples through relationships for His kingdom!

Centered in McAllen, Texas, we hope to add to the many wonderful ministries currently running and desire to add another arm by beginning an immigration assistance center. Using these opportunities and tools to build relationships and trust with our neighbors and arriving immigrants. As a family, we desire to build strong relationships with the families and youth along the border, in order to better share God’s life-changing love. We would love to engage the universities in the area also and open our doors for discipleship opportunities with the students there. We have a passion for partnering with the churches and other ministries in the area, fighting for, praying for, and loving our neighbors into His Kingdom.
