Holiday Cheese Ball

A little taste of a support staff favorite from World Gospel Mission’s International Cookbook

Been invited to a party or just want to bring in something special to share with your office? This holiday cheese ball is sure to please any crowd. The WGM test kitchen is pretty sure you will go home with an empty bowl. The green pepper and pimento offer a touch of red and green to show your festive side during the holidays, but this cheese ball can and will be enjoyed year round. Instant party!

  • 2 (8 oz.) packages cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 small can crushed pineapple, well drained
  • 4 tablespoons chopped green pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion (green onion is best)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
  • Some pimento

Holiday Cheese Ball Recipe: soften cream cheese to room temperature

Having the cream cheese softened to room temperature is key to making the cheese ball smooth and creamy.

From here it’s pretty simple. Just add the ingredients to the bowl.

Holiday Cheese Ball Recipe: green onion is the best option

While the recipe notes that green onion is the best option, the WGM test kitchen had a regular onion on hand, so that is what we used.

Holiday Cheese Ball Recipe: drain the pineapple well

Make sure the pineapple is drained, because too much of the liquid will not allow your cheese ball to form: you will have more of a dip than a ball.

Holiday Cheese Ball Recipe: mix all the ingredients together thoroughly

Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly, except for the pecans.

Holiday Cheese Ball Recipe: don't forget the pecans

Our test kitchen chose not to roll this recipe into a ball because of the serving dish we wanted to use, but this could easily be presented in the more traditional style. And don’t forget the pecans. While they look pretty, they also add a little extra crunch.
