Jerri Plummer

Support Staff
"He Will Give Us Rest"
By Rachel Elwood, Staff Writer, May 2013

“My favorite verse is Philippians 4:13: ‘For I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,’” said Jerri Plummer, retired support staff member of World Gospel Mission. “It means He’s the one you can go to any time for help, no matter want your situation is.”

Originally from Morristown, Tennessee, Jerri worked in the Church Ministries Department at WGM for six years until her retirement in 1998. Prior to that, she worked as an office assistant at a local attorney’s office for 20 years. When she left that job, she was looking for something different, and her pastor at Hillside Wesleyan Church encouraged her to apply for a position in the Church Ministries Department at WGM.

At that time, the Church Ministries Department assisted missionaries in scheduling speaking appointments at camps and churches for homeland ministry assignment. Jerri’s responsibilities included communicating with churches, keeping track of scheduling, and helping missionaries with publicity as they raised funds to return to their fields of service.

“I liked that WGM was a Christian organization, and I really enjoyed the missions part of it,” Jerri said. “It was great to work with the missionaries.”

Jerri had four children, 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She lived in Marion, Indiana, and was heavily involved in her church and the local senior center. Her life was always easy, as she struggled through a divorce from her first husband, raised her children alone, and then lost Richard, her second husband (“He was a good guy.”), to a heart attack after just four years of marriage.

But Jerri always remained grounded in the Lord. “Jesus will give us rest if we lean on Him and His strength to get through each day,” she said. She passed away in Marion at the age of 84 on November 5, 2017.
