Ministry Description
The El Alfarero center in Santa Cruz is an interdenominational project aimed at helping university students and young people realize that life can have hope and purpose. The center offers a safe and accepting environment through its café, free biblical counseling, crisis pregnancy center, daycare center, and young women’s refuge. Through wholistic ministry aimed at meeting their spiritual, emotional, social, and economic needs, the students’ lives can be transformed by God, allowing them to become leaders of character and integrity. The first El Alfarero University Student Center started in Sucre, Bolivia, in 2001, and the center in Santa Cruz was added in 2013. It seeks to impact university students and young people through evangelism, counseling, and discipleship while being a resource for local churches to maximize their impact on the city.
Quick Facts
- An average of 250 students pass through the café each night, taking advantage of the cheap and nutritious food, Christian music, games, and, above all, the love, security, and acceptance offered in this safe place.
- Bolivia is a “young” country; more than 53 percent of Bolivians are under the age of 24. The WGM Bolivia team is strategically focusing on ministries that reach out to those 29 years of age and younger with the love of Christ.
