Opportunities
The Cambodian language is called “Khmer.” It is the language with the longest alphabet in the world, and it is only spoken in Cambodia/by Cambodian people. However, in the private sector and world of non-profit organizations, the ability to communicate in English is very important because much international funding and support comes from English-speaking organizations. Good marketing is also important in order to gain attention and remain professional.
Ministry Description
Serve local Christian organizations/NGOs with assistance in various forms of communications and marketing including: website development, social media presence, reports, and editing any form of communication for proper/correct English.
Length of Service
- Mid-term: two months to one year
- Long-term: two or more years
Qualifications
It is highly desirable, but not required, that applicants have a degree (or degree in progress) in communications, marketing or graphic design. Applicants should also possess effective written and verbal communication skills and a high level of attention to detail, as well as computer proficiency.
Language Requirements
Those coming 3-12 months will be required to take a short “Kickstart to Khmer” language class. Longer-term missionaries will enroll in full-time language study at the beginning of their term.
