Muslim Ministries USA
There are more than 7 million Muslims living in the U.S., and 99 percent have never heard the gospel message presented in a way in which they understand it and want to accept Christ as their Savior. Is the Lord calling you to share the love of Jesus with Muslims in the States?
The Lord has opened a door for WGM to minister to Muslims in the United States in cooperation with Arab World Ministries, an evangelical mission focused on enabling people of the Arab world to proclaim Christ as their Lord and Savior.
There are more than 7 million Muslims living in the U.S., including more than 500,000 in Dearborn, Michigan, alone. This largest cluster of Muslims in the U.S. is partially due to the fact that Henry Ford turned to the Middle East for immigrant workers during the early days of the Ford Motor Company. Within the city limits, Muslims have created specialized areas such as a Yemeni area, a Lebanese area, and a large Iraqi settlement.
The field of Muslim Ministries USA will include urban areas, like Dearborn, that have high concentrations of Muslims. Other areas may include San Francisco, California; Denver, Colorado; Chicago, Illinois; Boston, Massachusetts; New York City, New York; and Toledo, Ohio. Outreach will focus on church, educational, and support ministries as workers build relationships with Muslims and seek to plant churches in these cities.
Church Ministries The ultimate goal of church ministries is to develop and establish churches worldwide. This is made possible by constantly striving to create an atmosphere where evangelism can take place. Through leadership training, Christian education, and discipleship ministries, the church is strengthened and national Christians are prepared to go where God leads them and to share the love of Christ with their own people.
One of the greatest challenges in evangelizing and discipling immigrants is mobilizing them to share the good news with their own people. In many places in the Middle East, it is illegal for non-Muslims to witness to Muslims and for Muslims to become Christians. Some Christians who do profess Christ in the Middle East face the death penalty if discovered. Therefore, it is difficult for converted Muslims in the States to embrace their religious freedom and share their faith with others.
Another challenge in this ministry is that while Muslims believe in Jesus, they do not have all the facts. The Qur’an states that Jesus was born of a virgin and has power over death; however, Muslims do not believe Jesus died on the cross and they do believe Him to be just a man, not God. Dispelling these beliefs and introducing Muslims to the true Christ is key in building God’s church among Arab immigrants.
Support Ministries WGM believes there is a place for everyone in missions. Support ministries offer a way for people to find their niche in missions by using their God-given talents and abilities to work hand-in-hand with other missionaries and national Christians. Some available opportunities include being accountants, treasurers, mechanics, computer technicians, work team coordinators, maintenance workers, and guesthouse hosts.
