El Salvador

El Salvador, which means “The Savior,” was named in honor of Jesus and follows the motto “Dios, Unión, Libertad” (God, Union, Liberty). Through church and educational ministries, WGM, AMSLA (Latin American Holiness Missionary Agency), and the Honduran national church are seeking to develop and inspire leaders who will guide the future of God’s church in El Salvador. Could they be waiting for you?

The first WGM missionaries arrived in Jucuapa, El Salvador, in September 2006. From the beginning, the outreach in El Salvador was meant to be a joint effort between WGM and AMSLA, the Latin American Holiness Missionary Agency. A few months later, a Honduran missionary couple joined the team, and a church was started in a missionary’s home.

Today, that church meets in a rented building and averages about 50 people each week. The team focuses on discipleship, both with youth and adults. The hope is to develop and inspire leaders who will guide the future of the church and to plant other churches in nearby cities as well.

In the future, the El Salvador team hopes to have a medical facility up and running by August 2009, in partnership with Medical Missions International. They also hope to start a bilingual grade school. These two ministries will be the key to meeting the physical needs of today and the spiritual and emotional needs of the next generations.
